Quickmill Inc., based in Peterborough, ON, is a leading CNC machine tool manufacturer, serving global industries like aerospace, power generation, heat transfer, and structural steel. Despite their high-performance machines, Quickmill faced challenges in monitoring critical CNC components to ensure timely maintenance.
In collaboration with Lambton College, Quickmill developed an AI-driven predictive maintenance solution. Using accelerometers, the system monitored vibrations in essential CNC components, with machine learning algorithms analyzing these vibrations to assess component health and predict remaining useful life. This proactive approach will help prevent costly breakdowns through advanced maintenance alerts.
The successful implementation of this technology is expected to boost Quickmill’s annual growth by $2 million, create two new jobs, and enhance the company’s international competitiveness, benefiting both Canadian exports and global operations.
